The Centre’s philosophy based on Emotional Education is present in every educational process: The box of hugs, the calm corner, the library of emotions, the star of the day…. They are just some of our companions in the different activities which we offer to our pupils which are related to “Self-esteem and Emotion Management” and “Empathy and Conflict Resolution”.

The Bilingual Plan of English P-1 (1-2 years old) “Robin Bird” (Red), is integrated in the classroom and is worked globally in all of the activities.

The Centre’s Education Plan is divided into quarters and it is carried out according to the corresponding areas of Infant Education:

KNOWLEDGE OF ONESELF AND PERSONAL AUTONOMY

This area of knowledge and experience refers to the gradual construction of their own identity and their own emotional maturity as a whole when establishing affective relationships with others and to their personal autonomy as inseparable and necessarily complementary processes.

KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR SURROUNDINGS

This area refers to the knowledge that a child acquires when entering into contact with his/her surroundings and with basic social groups with which they relate to or to which they belong.  This helps them to understand their reality in a significant and constructive way.

LANGUAGE:Communication and Representation

This area of knowledge and experience hopes to develop children’s communicative abilities by learning to use, more and more adequately, different ways of body, gestural, verbal, -oral and written-, artistic –art and music-, audiovisual and technological communication and representation, helping them in this way to improve their knowledge and relationships within their surroundings.

CROSSINGS

responds to the need of raising the quality of attention given to centres, so long as they respond to the following characteristics:

  • Concern for social problems.
  • Connection to everyday reality.
  • The promotion of public culture crossing in everyday life of their pupils.
  • To bring out the values of education as an axis which are essential to comprehensive education.
  • To allow a critical social perspective when facing traditional curriculum which makes global views of interrelated problems of humanity difficult.

THE HEURISTIC GAME

The Heuristic Game is an activity for children between 12 and 24 months who are ready to discover the world for themselves and feel a great need to explore and see how things behave when they are manipulated.

It is the “investigation and discovering technique”

The heuristic game takes advantage of the young one’s spontaneous actions and strengthens them. Children discover the features of the objects they are manipulating with their senses, achieving new learnings, thought structure, language, relationships and actions.

This develops the cognitive (comprehension, relationships, knowledge…), perceptive (vision, hearing, tactile, taste, smell), body (gross motor, fine motor), and affective (enjoy, value, love…) abilities.

In this game children act according to their own rhythm, being the protagonists of their learning without depending on an adult: Through investigating they discover and move on from what they have already learnt.  Children put things in and take them out, group together and separate, cover and uncover, throw and put aside, build up and knock down, line up, turn objects, fit in, hit and make noises, they make multiple combinations on their own without the need of adult guidance.

It consists in offering a large quantity of objects and containers of different types, the more natural the better, so children can play freely without adult intervention and discover on their own.

It is divided into two parts, the first part is the playing stage where children experiment with objects and the second part is the tidying up stage, in this stage they have to classify and organize material placing it into the correct space.

The objects which are used do not have a fun purpose and are easily combined among themselves: nature, house, etc. They must be easy to use and easily kept.

EARLY YEARS STIMULATION PLAN (Intelligence Bits)

An intelligence bit is a bit of information.  Its fulfilment is found in using an illustration or a precise picture or good quality photo, which presents a series of very important features: it must be precise, exact, clear, big and original. The intelligence Bits are very useful to stimulate the brain, learning and the memory of the child, especially between the ages 0 to 3, as this stage is crucial for the development of the child.

MUSICAL PEDAGOGY

Music contributes to fomenting social, intellectual and emotional development, and helps develop physical aptitude, handling personal feelings, develops enjoyment of children’s’ cultural traditions and creates opportunities for them to express themselves.

If we include music as part of their education, children will enjoy happy moments in which they are able to show communication, movements, socialization and creativity; moreover it gives them the opportunity to nurture learning, by stimulating their development and strengthening their aptitudes to establish strong and healthy relationships with other people.

The programme is divided into terms and is composed of the following contents: Instruments (musical, body, classroom material and kitchen), auditions, music of the world, environment sounds, games, dancing, songs, and graphical symbols.

DIGITAL BOARDp11

The TIC (Communication and Information Technologies), offer a constructive activity to children, strengthening and stimulating their initiative and creativity promoting meaningful learning. We carry out interactive games, working on writing abilities, shadow theatres, etc.

A WALK FOR LEARNING

Indoor (interior): These are included in the Centre Education Plan, and are set out in different spaces within the centre and aim to develop a child’s creativity through sensorial, natural, historical, artistic and cultural experiences.

disfracesSTORYTELLING AND PUPPETS

Narrating traditional stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio, Christmas Stories, Stories related to human values (Emotional Education), to then continue by performing them with puppets and with theatre initiation.

COOKERY WORKSHOPS

Cookery workshops for children are a wonderful way to interest children and even more to create enthusiasm for healthy food.  Children have the opportunity to create healthy meals which teach them while they learn important abilities on autonomy and creativity. They also learn about safety with food and gain ability to plan meals. We help them to learn about good habits on nutrition, and of healthy options in a fun interactive way.
